Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs in compliance with OHSA and related legislation.
• Conduct regular safety walkthroughs and inspections across production, lab, and warehouse areas.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
• Coordinate emergency response plans, fire drills, spill control, and confined space protocols.
• Deliver and manage mandatory safety training (e.g., WHMIS, TDG, forklift, PPE, LOTO).
• Maintain accurate records for inspections, incidents, training, and SDS documentation.
• Monitor hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and disposal in accordance with MECP and municipal regulations.
• Support environmental data collection and reporting for audits and assessments (e.g., CDP, Sedex, EcoVadis).
• Facilitate JHSC meetings, inspections, and compliance activities.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of OHSA, WHMIS 2015, TDG, and environmental compliance standards.
• Certification in First Aid, Forklift Safety, and other relevant safety programs is an asset.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
