Experienced Microbiologist

Key Responsibilities

Micro Lab Setup & Validation

• Lead the design, layout, and commissioning of the Microbiology Laboratory

• Select and qualify lab equipment, consumables, and testing methodologies

• Develop and validate microbiological test procedures for raw materials, bulk, and finished goods

• Establish environmental monitoring programs and aseptic sampling protocols

Microbiological Testing & Analysis

• Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing (e.g., TVC, yeast & mold, pathogen screening)

• Investigate microbial contamination and support root cause analysis

• Review and approve microbiological test results and release documentation

• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of test data to internal and external stakeholders

Documentation & Compliance

• Develop and maintain SOPs, validation protocols, and technical reports

• Ensure compliance with Health Canada, ISO, GMP, and client-specific microbiological standards

• Support internal and external audits, including client visits and regulatory inspections

• Maintain meticulous records in accordance with data integrity principles

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with QA, R&D, and Production teams to ensure microbiological quality across operations

• Lead investigations into microbiological deviations and implement corrective actions

• Monitor trends and proactively identify risks to product safety and quality

• Champion hygiene and sanitation best practices across the facility

Leadership & Training

• Mentor and train junior microbiologists and lab technicians

• Foster a culture of scientific excellence, safety, and accountability

• Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams and clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in microbiological testing, preferably in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or personal care

• Proven experience managing a microbiology lab

• Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and Health Canada regulations

• Excellent technical writing, data analysis, and problem-solving skills

• Experience with environmental monitoring and contamination control

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with client-facing experience preferred
