Cosmetic Chemist
Main Purpose of the Job

Full-time and day-shift

Reports to
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop new formulas relating to make-up cosmetics and skin care by using eco-sustainable, bio-based, bio- degradable, plant-based, and environmentally friendly alternative ingredients.

  •  Work on the development of several products simultaneously, resulting in the launch of new products per year

  • Carrie out research on raw materials (such as extracts using microorganisms as biological mini-factories, plant extracts from the Socio-Biodiversity Enhancement Program, bio-degradable colorants, and emulsifiers)

  • Performs quality control and stability testing, and reports to the director of product and brand development.

  • Work closely with a production department and manufacturing companies on operating and calibrating basic lab instruments.

  • Independently identify and develop innovative and consumer-relevant technology and formulas.

  • Anticipate and identify scale-up and commercialization issues for new products and formulations.

  • Make critical observations, solve problems, and proactively

  • make decisions in pursuing projects. Recognize patentable technology and develop patent strategies accordingly

  • Requires a BS in chemistry or related major with more than two years of professional experience working in a lab in the cosmetics industry

  • Have strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Be passionate, enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and positive in cosmetic research.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
